The Dirtsheet: Gameweek 22

Posted: January 11, 2013 in The Dirtsheet

It’s here…the very first Dirtsheet! You give me five minutes, I give you all my predictions for the gameweek! To summarise what the Dirtsheet is all about..

The Eleven are my picks for the week. No differentials, no risks, just who should do well.
The Captain is the player who is the strongest captaincy choice for the gameweek.
The Clean Sheets are the teams who I expect to have the best chance of a clean sheet for the gameweek.
The UNlikely Suspects are this weeks risky picks, perfect if you need/want to take a gamble!

With further ado, here is The Dirtsheet for gameweek 22…

DIRTSHEET: GAMEWEEK 22

– The Eleven – (3-4-3)

Simon Mignolet (SUN) – A good chance of a clean sheet against a travel-sick Hammers side.
Russell Martin (NOR) – Newcastle are without lots of stalwarts, Martin is scoring for fun.
Ashley Cole (CHE)- The safest bet in the Chelsea defense to play 180 minutes. Should pick up a clean sheet.
Leighton Baines (EVE) – Looks like he has found his eye for goal and Everton have been strengthened by the return of Felliani.
Marouane Fellaini (EVE) – There should be a few goals at Goodison Park. Expect the Belgian to be involved.
Juan Mata (CHE) – Can Benitez afford to rest him again? Not likely. Should be at the heart of all positive Chelsea play.
Gareth Bale (TOT) – Bale will give the QPR defense nightmares with his pace. If he targets their show CB’s he could have a field day.
Robert Snodgrass (NOR) – At home to a Newcastle side sans Tiote and ravaged by injuries. Just 6.2m and can be replaced by WHU cover next week.
Rickie Lambert (SOU) – Short term choice but could do well against Villa. Expect less vs Chelsea.
Robin Van Persie (MUN) – Expect a war of attrition at OT on Sunday. The Dutchman was bought for days like this.
Demba Ba (CHE) – Expected to start vs Stoke and should get at least 25 minutes against a tired Southampton side at the very least.

– The Captain
Juan Mata (Chelsea). Double gameweek versus Stoke and Southampton.

– The Clean Sheets
I cannot see many clean sheets this week as many of the top sides face off against each other. Look to Sunderland, Reading and Norwich.

– The UNusual Suspects
DF: Ian Harte – Good chance of a clean sheet vs WBA and a dead ball specialist.
MD: Jason Puncheon – A double gameweek and a good fixture vs Villa. Could get double figures.
FW: Dimitar Berbatov – Very unlucky to miss out to Lambert in The Eleven. Looks a different player with Ruiz alongside him.
Captain: Van Persie. The favoured pick most week but not this week thanks to the Chelsea double gameweek. If you think the Chelsea might not return as many points as everyone expects, RVP should be a superb differential given that Mata and Ba owners will captain their charges!.

And that’s a wrap! It’s quick, it’s informative and it’s helpful. It’s the Dirtsheet, every Friday evening at 2100 GMT. Please take the time to like the page on Facebook and keep up to date by following us on twitter.
